Safety of pillion riders on two-wheelers is something that’s very often ignored. Many people tend to overlook the fact that pillion riders too are at risk if they don’t wear helmets to protect themselves against head and neck injuries. Aster Medcity in association with Freedom Riders, a bikers’ collective, distributed fifty free helmets to pillion riders on two wheelers at Marine Drive, Cheranelloor and Bolghatty junction, with an aim to create rider safety awareness and emphasise the fact that every life is precious.
The event was inaugurated by Mr. Shaji Joseph, Deputy Transport Commissioner of Ernakulam, in the presence of Freedom Riders who took time out to educate public on the need to stay safe. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Shaji Joseph emphasised on the need for pillion drivers to wear helmets to ensure maximum safety against possible dangers. Renowned movie actor Niyaz also distributed helmets to two-wheeler riders, who were pleasantly surprised to receive a thoughtful and unexpected gift.
The event was organised as a part of Aster Medcity’s CSR initiatives.
